What does the Section J report mean?

  A Section J Reportoutlines the energy efficiency criteria for non-residential commercial buildings in Class 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9. The National Construction Code, originally known as the Building Code of Australia, defines this in  JV3   (or Part J) of Volume One (BCA).  When the Evidence of Suitability method has been chosen as the most appropriate method to assess the proposed development’s compliance, the Section J Method of Compliance is used. You should know that residential structures are not included. There are only a few examples: boarding houses, guest houses, lodging houses, commercial, retail, hostels, apartments, and backpacker accommodation. Other structures could include a residential sector, as well as schools and hotels.
